ICE Custody Release Path

ICE is a separate custody system from the Choctaw County Sheriff's jail function. The Choctaw research did not find an official source showing Choctaw County Jail as an ICE detention facility or active ICE contract site. That limits how the ICE pathway should be written. It is a possible post-release or transfer path when a county record says a person was released to immigration custody, but it is not a Choctaw County release list and should not be described as a normal Choctaw jail feed.

If a Choctaw sheriff record shows that county custody ended because the person was transferred to ICE or another federal authority, the county release entry only answers the county side. The current immigration-detention check is the ICE Online Detainee Locator System, often called ODLS. USA.gov explains that ODLS searches current ICE detention by A-Number and country of birth, or by biographical information. It is a locator for current detention, not a county jail release archive.

Confirm an ICE Transfer

An ICE custody check should be fact-driven. Do not start with ICE unless a record, court note, attorney update, family information, or agency statement points toward immigration custody. A person can leave the Choctaw County Jail path for many reasons, including bond, time served, dismissal, probation, ADOC transfer, federal custody, or out-of-county housing. ICE is only one possible route and was not documented as a routine Choctaw facility function.

1. Call the Choctaw County Sheriff's Office and ask whether the person was released, transferred, or still held under Choctaw authority.
2. Ask for the jail-book entry showing the order and date of release or transfer under Alabama's sheriff prisoner record statute.
3. Check the Choctaw court case for any order, disposition, bond action, sentence, or notation that explains the custody change.
4. If immigration custody is specifically indicated, search ODLS by A-Number and country of birth, or by name, country of birth, and birth date.
5. If ODLS does not return a result, do not treat that alone as a certified release record. Current detention locators have scope limits.

Scope limit: ODLS can help locate current ICE detention, but the Choctaw sheriff record remains the source for release from Choctaw custody.

ICE Records Contact Route

No Choctaw-specific ICE detention address was supported by the research. The page therefore avoids listing a local ICE facility contact that was not verified. For a Choctaw County matter, start with the Choctaw sheriff and court records. If those sources indicate immigration custody, use ICE ODLS and the immigration case channel that applies to the person.

The sheriff contact is not an ICE office. It is the local source for whether Choctaw County released the person, transferred the person, or still holds the person under a Choctaw matter. That answer determines whether ODLS is relevant.

ICE ODLS is designed for current immigration detention searches. The research notes two search routes. One uses the A-Number and country of birth. The other uses biographical information, including name, country of birth, and date of birth. ODLS is JavaScript-driven, and the screenshot capture for this project returned a blocked status, so no successful manifest image is used here. The absence of an image does not change the search path.

ODLS is not a county release archive. It should not be used to prove that a Choctaw County inmate bonded out, completed a sentence, or had charges dismissed. It may help after the county record says the person left Choctaw custody for immigration detention. If the county record says the person transferred to federal custody but not immigration custody, the federal BOP/USMS pathway may be a better fit.

ICE Search Fields

ICE searches need precise identity information. Names may vary by spelling, order, or documents. Date and country details matter. If the A-Number is known, it is usually the cleanest search route. If not, the biographical route depends on accurate name and birth information. The Choctaw sheriff record may not contain all immigration identifiers, so the court file, attorney records, family documents, or federal paperwork may be needed.

Choctaw ICE Caveat

The research specifically cautions against claiming routine ICE involvement in Choctaw County releases. No official source found during the research showed Choctaw County Jail as an ICE detention facility or active ICE contract site. A page can explain what to do if immigration custody follows a county release, but it should not imply that Choctaw jail releases commonly route to ICE.

This distinction protects accuracy. A sheriff release record may show release to the community, bond, time served, dismissal, probation, ADOC transfer, federal transfer, or another lawful path. Only use ICE when the facts support it. If the person was sentenced to ADOC, the ADOC page is the correct state-prison route. If the person was sentenced federally, the BOP page is the correct federal route.

If a record only says hold or detainer, ask the sheriff or court which agency placed it and whether it remained active at release. A state warrant, another county hold, a federal criminal hold, and an immigration custody issue can look similar in casual speech, but they send the search to different records.

Note: A county release and an ICE detention search answer different questions and may both be needed when a transfer occurs.

Search ICE Release Records

A complete Choctaw-to-ICE search starts with the county record and moves outward only as needed. First confirm the release or transfer from Choctaw sheriff custody. Then check the court file for the order or disposition. If immigration custody is supported, use ODLS with the best identity details available. If ODLS shows current detention, record the result and confirm any next steps through the proper immigration custody channel. If ODLS does not show current detention, return to the county, court, ADOC, or federal source that fits the known facts.
