No Choctaw County source confirmed a public 72-hour release window. The research did not verify a three-day release URL, roster filter, photo display, field list, update schedule, or retention rule. Search results did show sheriff-site custody and mugshot pages, but direct access failed, and the 24-hour booking result title was "NO JAIL AVAILABLE."
Three-day caution. A 72-hour window can catch events that a same-day search misses, but Choctaw's available sources do not support a claim that a public 72-hour list exists. Treat the 72-hour period as the time span you ask agencies to check: "Was this person released, transferred, or still held at any point during the last three days?"
This page differs from the 24-hour page by focusing on delayed visibility: weekend and holiday processing, transport between facilities, court-order timing, out-of-county housing, and state/federal custody transitions.
Check the Three-Day Window
Because there is no verified Choctaw 72-hour feed, the practical process is a three-day records request or phone check. Ask for the precise date range and the custody result, not just a yes-or-no roster answer.
- Call the Choctaw County Sheriff's Office at (205) 459-2166 and ask whether the person was booked, held, released, transferred, or housed out of county during the last three days.
- Ask for the sheriff jail-book entry showing the order and date of commitment and the order and date of release under Ala. Code Section 36-22-8.
- Ask whether the person was physically held in Choctaw County or at Washington County Jail or another holding facility under a housing arrangement.
- Check the Choctaw County court record for weekend bond posting, Monday court orders, dismissal, sentence, probation, or transfer.
- Use Alacourt ACCESS if a remote trial-court search is needed and the posted fees are acceptable.
- If the person moved to ADOC, ABPP, BOP, USMS, or ICE custody, switch to that agency's record path for the release or transfer status.

Weekend and Holiday Lag
A 72-hour search is useful because release visibility can lag around weekends and holidays. Bond may be posted after hours. A court order may be entered one business day and processed later by the holding facility. A person may be transported from an out-of-county jail before the Choctaw legal record is updated. A state or federal hold may turn what looked like a local release into a transfer.
The research did not find a Choctaw-specific weekend-release rule. It did find local reporting that the jail had been closed for years, that inmates had been housed first at Clarke County and then Washington County, and that a new jail in Butler was under construction after a July 9, 2025 groundbreaking. Out-of-County Housing
Choctaw County's release research has a facility caveat. The official sheriff remains the legal source for the jail function and jail docket, but physical custody may be outside the county. If a Choctaw detainee is physically housed in Washington County Jail or another facility, the physical holding jail may control gate release, property, transport timing, and day-of-release logistics.
That does not move the legal release record away from Choctaw. For a Choctaw charge, start with the Choctaw County Sheriff's Office and Choctaw court records. Ask the sheriff which facility had physical custody during the three-day window and which office holds the release paperwork.
Fallback Record Path
